Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and happy New Year to all our family and friends!

Charles: This year I completed the spring semester of my freshman year at Northeastern University. For the second time, I spent the summer in Bedford working at the MITRE Corporation. I was fortunate enough to be involved in a project that sent me to Beale Air Force Base for a week for work, which was very cool. At the end of the summer, the family went to California for a vacation, stopping by San Francisco, the Monterey Peninsula, and Yosemite. Upon getting back I started my sophomore fall semester at Northeastern, which I have now completed. Unlike in high school, I haven't been doing any significant projects aside from school and work since I've started college, letting me focus on my primary occupations, as well as enjoying my Netflix subscription. In January I will be starting a six month co-op at BBN Technologies in Cambridge, while continuing to live on campus.

These pictures show me: on the beach in Pacific Grove, CA, after a rough Easter dinner, and atop Mt. Monadnock with friends. (Click on any picture for a larger image.)

Katie:  2010 was a great year for me! In the spring my dance team went to a competition and won very high awards. Over the summer I had my first job at Springs Brook Park, just down the road from our house. I started tenth grade in the fall and I am enjoying it more than last year. I started doing more dance this year, so I am now dancing four days a week, but really enjoying it. I had a great time on the trips we took this year, I especially liked going to the Bahamas and California. I'm looking forward to the new year and turning sixteen in March!

Janet and Chuck: It was another busy, but rewarding, year. We are pleased that Charles is enjoying his college, Katie is coping well with the increased workload in high school, and Elizabeth is a happy, well-rounded 9-year-old. One of our highlights was a camping trip to southern NH for the July 4th weekend. Many homeowners around the lake set off their own fireworks, so we had a great show just looking out from our campsite. Yosemite was fun, although we found the driving scary. Being from New England, we are not used to 3000’ drops if we make a mistake! And Chuck was a bit disappointed that he could not fit in time to climb El Capitan.

These pictures show us: hiking to Sentinel Dome in Yosemite, just before riding bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge, and standing at the well-known Tunnel Lookout with El Capitan and Half Dome in the background.

Elizabeth:  This year I finished 2nd grade and moved to Lane School for 3rd grade. I have a nice teacher and lots of friends. My favorite class is recess because we get to run around and practice karate moves. I started reading Harry Potter books this year, but I haven’t seen the movies because they might be scary. I like play dates with my friends, and playing Pokemon on Nintendo DS. I joined swim team this summer so I am a better swimmer than last year.

These pictures show me: overlooking San Francisco from the de Young museum, near Sentinel Dome in Yosemite, shivering after a swim in a mountain stream, and celebrating my first communion at church.
