Roger,
As you may recall, I am teaching software engineering this semester at
Boston University. We are using your textbook, Software Engineering: A
Practitioner's Approach (4th ed). I am taking you up on your offer to
send some feedback from the students.
The students (and I) find the book to be thorough and well-written.
They would like to see more practical examples though, to tie the
theory to the real world. One suggestion they had was to introduce a
couple moderately complex (real) examples at the beginning, then use
the examples throughout all the chapters. They particularly asked for
this in Chapters 10 and 11. They found these chapters to be quite
difficult to read, because they did not see how these methods could be
practically applied.
I hope that your business continues to go well. I may attend the ASQ
conference in Cambridge on Oct. 4. I understand that you are speaking
there. If I attend also, I'll look for you and introduce myself.
Sincerely,
Chuck Connell
